Edward George Fletcher was born in Snailwell on 6th May 1863 (Newmarket Q2-1863 3B:555), son of Phoebe FLETCHER. His mother [34] appears to have married
William FULLER [32] shoemaker, in Walworth, Surrey on 17th July 1865.
1871 census...Aged 7 he was at Cottage, Snailwell with his grandfather John FLETCHER [69] born Cambridgeshire and his grandmother Eliza [62] born Suffolk. His mother Phoebe FULLER [41] born Snailwell, was at High Town, Burwell with her husband William FULLER [41] farm labourer born Chippenham, Cambs and their children, Charles [5] born Sheerness, Kent and Ellen [1] born Chippenham. 1881 census...Aged 17, a farm labourer, he was at Snailwell Street, Snailwell with his widowed grandmother Eliza FLETCHER [72] born Barrow. His mother and her husband and their two children were now at Bedlam Square, Burwell. On 17th September 1887 in Burwell, he married Mary Ann COOK. 1891 census...Aged 27, a labourer, he was at Bedlam Square, Burwell with his wife Mary Ann [26] born Sproughton, Suffolk and their children, Rose E. [3] and Edward G. [1], both born in Burwell. His mother and her husband were at Bedlam Square, Burwell. 1901 census...Aged 37 a labourer at chemical works, he was at 6 Bedlam Yard, Burwell with his wife, daughter Rose and son George, also son Charles [[8] and daughters Ada [6], Mary [4] and Lily [2] all born in Burwell. 1911 census...Aged 47, a farm labourer, he was at Church Lane, Burwell with his wife and daughters Mary Ann, Lily Violet, Elsie May [9], Florence [6] and Bertha [3], all born in Burwell. All nine children survived. |

Nothing has been found of his military life. At his age it seems unlikely that he would have served abroad, and there is no medal index card for him.
Whether accident or illness caused his death is not known, unless his death certificate is obtained.(Newmarket Q3-1916 3B:580)
